Four was short on time for today's run, so we just met up at the Back Cove for an easy lap. I complained about the beautiful weather because I'd dressed according to the morning weather report (the problem for having to pack in the a.m. for a p.m. run). I had tights, long sleeve tech shirt and no hat (lucky to have left sunscreen in the car). And I was too hot during our run.
I said bye to Four and headed to Congress St. to find the Fore River Trail for the rest of my miles. By the time I'd started running, our sunny day was done. In fact, the temp dropped and the sky started spitting. I would end the run glad for my attire and even wishing for gloves!
At first I was a bit disappointed. I thought the trail was just the little mile strip off of Congress and Hobart, but then I found a trail map that showed more at the Fore River Sanctuary . I ran there and was delighted to find single track trails that made you forget you were in the city. The Jewel Falls were a delight. It was about here that I regretted not wearing my trail shoes cause the rain (now falling a bit harder) had made much of the trail pretty slippery. Just took it a little easier than I would have needed to on the ups and downs. Finished up with 11 total miles for the day.
I can't imagine that I'll be running anywhere else in Portland for the rest of this semester. It was great.
