When Mindy and I were on our way back from the farthest point on the Scuffle course, on the last "longish" up on the Snowmobile Trail, we'd seen what I was sure was a new trail off to the left. I almost opted for the Scuffle course again, but decided to start out on the Bruiser and then head down the Snowmobile Trail when I got to it and pick up that new trail.
On Regan, I was surprised to find the far end of the high bridge blocked with logs, branches, and a rock. Hmmmm....It appeared a lot of mountain bike activity had gone on the "by-pass".

Turns out that wasn't the last of the make-shift course marking. Evidently the course blocked the Snowmobile Trail (also in the opposite direction I was running) to divert the bikes onto the new trail I was planning on taking.

Despite taking pictures along the way, I ran at a good clip, really hitting my stride around 3 miles in. I ran for 6.3 miles. I felt like running more, but I had errands to get to. Besides, the heat was really building.
The pretty flora could be considered a treat, but not the one I was referring to at the start. Yesterday, when I told Mindy I'd be heading to Whole Foods today, she asked if I'd be getting my favorite chocolate-chunk scone. I lamented that they didn't seem to carry them any more. Well! I better play the lottery after my next Bradbury run; yesterday we were rewarded with the TBLTs and, today, Whole Foods had my scone. Yum : )
Oh, yeah, I did mention the inconsiderately marked and inconsiderately not picked up make-shift bike course to Tammy.
I ran Bradbury Wednesday and encountered numerous places where the bikers had blocked trails with tape tied to trees and made it very difficult to run without stopping. I guess there was some type of biker race going on, I ran into a bunch of them on the trails and was almost run over a couple times. when I returned to the parking lot, it was full of them with numbers and such.
ReplyDeleteI must say this particular biker group was not too "runner" friendly ( I thought the runners and hikers had the right of way). I felt like I was infringing on their turf.
Pathfinder, Tammy said they would get a talking to about leaving their stuff up and marking method...perhaps they need to be reminded of more rules : (
