Thursday I ran the Fat Ass course again, tweaking it as planned. Again, great conditions and the best weather. Then, after 9 pm, I headed back out with Bethany to walk the finalized course. Originally we'd planned to snowshoe it to pack it down more, but it had firmed up enough I didn't think the shoes would do anything...Well, they would at least have kept us from all the post holing we did! If you stray off the track at all (especially the single track stuff we made and not the nice wide snowmobile trail), even go on the margin of the trail, BAM! You're sunk! We laughed. A lot. Walking it took us two hours. Didn't plan on that much time.
I was surprised to find it drizzling this morning. Oh, I'm aware it was forecasted, but we mainly had moonlight last night. I thought we escaped it. Now, looking at the weather report, it could get sloppy out there. I'm not sure what time would be the best to go out and mark...I don't want to make a mess of the track.
Hi there, I seem to run Pineland each year with Jim D. but I've been living in Boston so I don't get to ME much. I just moved back to the Portland area and would love to join TMR for the FA 50k tomorrow but I'm not sure who to contact to confirm time, place, etc. Thanks! -Zak Wieluns
ReplyDeleteZak, I tried to email you with an address that Jim gave me. I'm not sure it went thru. Do you have Jim's email? He can send you my contact info. Valerie
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think so, that one is no longer active, I think I have Jim's email somewhere I'll drop him a line...Thanks!
