That's What It's All About

Sometimes a run is so unexpectedly great. I'd taken two days off in a row after my long run on Saturday. It hadn't seemed to make a difference in how my body (left foot and knee/hip) was feeling. Still, waiting for Sam in Gorham with no run - no good. My schedule called for six and that's what I set out to do.

In my first lap, my pains were all present and I was sort of worried that I'd have to cut it short. As I ran, the parts all seemed to fall into place. I found myself just having fun. It's hard running (both the technicality of the trail and the elevation changes), but...Yahoo! My four laps were all within 4 seconds/mile of each other. It's the first time I didn't have to walk up the long up at all.

I finished feeling strong, ready, and happy.

PS. Some things I'd forgotten to write about Saturday's run:

Not long after I was running by myself, I noticed a camo-covered box under a rock overhang. I stopped to investigate and found a geocache! I think I could have stayed and played with the trinkets inside for a long time, but knew I had to keep moving. I'd love to go back and investigate.

On the second side, I had a couple of surprises. There was a tree down across the bridge on the Tote Road. I'd estimate it to be over 12" in diameter and the bridge was undamaged. Towards the end of the Tote, I nearly stepped on a snake...or so I thought..
...There were two snakes! They slithered in opposite directions, leaving me to almost land on one of them. Ugh!!! I don't mind snakes at all, but HATE to be startled by them. Oh well, at least I didn't land on it!

  3. My coworker was at Bradbury on Saturday with his kids looking for the Geocaches.

  4. I think we have a strong group heading down!

Blaine, hope they found some. Bethany does them and knows of quite a few over there. I just saw mine by accident.
