Back to the trails behind USM today. I have a couple loops figured out. One makes my minutes/mile look really bad; I have to climb over lots of trees. In fact, there's one clump of big trees down where I'm pretty high off the ground. That's the one that made me wish I had my cell phone with me on my Tuesday run. The loop I'll probably stick with from now on has some obstacles, but is mostly runnable.
The part of the trails REALLY close to USM has evidence of students. At least there's not much litter....
I got in seven miles.
I don't know yet how to put a YouTube video here, but...I'll try to link to some good, appropriate 70's music.
Those blowdown photos remind me of some of our time spent hiking on the AT in VT. Those sections criss-crossed with blowdowns took FOREVER! Good for you for not just turning around :-) Looks like some nice trails otherwise!
ReplyDeleteIt really is a great place to run. I will avoid the section with the most blowdowns from now on. The fun in scaling them doesn't last that long : )
ReplyDeleteIt must have been tough to deal with them that late in your journey.
Those last few pictures just cracked me up especially the couch!! : }
ReplyDeleteWow!! Quite a mess with all those trees that came down!!
Grace, the couch cracked me up too... kinda expect that behind a college.
ReplyDeleteThe downed trees are right near the twisters path. Not too far from Renee, right?
