Not Pretty

Linda and I headed to Bradbury early this morning, hoping to beat some of the heat. Relatively speaking we did; it would have been much worse a couple hours later. About 5.5 miles in, Linda decided, wisely, that she should cut it short, but for me to continue. Her back was grumpy to start and the heat and humidity (and probably air quality) all combined to make her feel kinda bad. I told her I would finish, but skip the O. She tried to talk me into running it because she thought I was cutting my run short because of her. Not at all, the O would have been too much for the weather.

I tried to pick up the pace, knowing that I wasn't doing all 12. That went well for about 3 miles, but then I started to drag. I couldn't drink enough to offset all I was losing. If I didn't concentrate, I'd catch myself walking. I'm looking forward to running in the rain!

  1. I'm looking forward to the rain too.

I was in a funk when I got out of work thanks to a coworker, so I decided between the funk, the air quality, and the chest still hurting a lot that I didn't want to run at the Back Cove at 6 and went home instead.

Freja and I laid around (she purred, I didn't) until Erin got home and we had an early dinner. Then I went out and mowed the lawn while she ran (and given how fast it got dark I can't wait to see how crappy a job I did when the sun comes up in the morning) and then after she got home I grabbed the head lamp and got in a few barefoot miles.

It was actually quite pleasant...It wasn't cool, but it was better than it was during the day and there wasn't any traffic to speak of. I'll take it.
