Finally have a USM parking permit, so was able to park on campus in Gorham. I'd forgotten my bag with license (had all my running gear, though!), so was happy to drive as little as possible. I'm not happy running the roads in Gorham normally and wasn't eager to run with the snow crowding any shoulder. So I just did laps around the school.
Anyone familiar with USM's Gorham campus will know that meant I did hills. I even added some long stairs up. I felt like the Rocky music should be playing. Don't know how often I'll repeat that workout, but I definitely had fun with it today. Ran what I guessed to be 5 miles.
Yeh that's a hilly campus. There are supposed to be trails back there too but I've not been on them.
ReplyDeleteI used to run laps there after class sometimes. Very hilly indeed! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteJamie, did you say you knew where to pick up the trails Jeff mentioned? Maybe I can find an existing map of them. I imagine I'll want to branch out before the semester is too old!
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of a trail map from a few years ago, I'll see if I can dig it out tonight and bring a copy to Bradbury tomorrow (I hope you can make it). I ran there a few times in the summer, I don't think I ever made it out ther in the winter. I know that the trails connect up to a lot of people's backyards and many of them look like the type who would ride snomobiles in the winter. I parking in the big lot on Husky Drive and headed north (downhill) onto the trails.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Ian. Unfortunately, I'm driving Ryan back tomorrow so won't make it to Bradbury. I googled the trail and found a site I joined for mountain bikers that gave single-track info. Gave, not a map, but a description of the trail and where to pick it up.
