Vegas Strip

The Vegas strip I'm referring to is the belt of the treadmill.  I woke early (2:45am) today. I had planned to get 30 extra minutes of sleep, but Spot decided to wake me earlier and then it didn't make sense to go back to sleep.

I thought I'd have a chance to grab some food at the Portland airport, but I got to the gate just in time to board.  We were a little late getting in to Newark so I didn't get food before I boarded the plane for the long flight to Vegas.  Luckily, I packed a few little granola packs.  I got to the hotel just before noon (3pm EST).  It took me a bit to get settled in; it's an incredibly huge place.  I decided I'd get in my run before eating or checking in to my event.

It wasn't your typical hotel workout room.  It was one of four in the country Canyon Spa locations.  All I took advantage of was the treadmill.  A few minutes after I got started (running around 9:10s with a rise of 3- 3.5), a guy started on the machine a few down from me.  I had to coach him in how to get it running.  I almost wished I hadn't; he was one of those really annoying breathers.  No problem, I just outlasted him.  I ran 6 miles and then walked the rest of the time to get to a full hour.  The best part was the luxurious shower after.  The shower head is about perfect.  Yum.

The worst part was that I had to register and then attend "Freshman Orientation".  Those were fine, but I hadn't gotten a chance to eat...Yikes!
