I wanted to be running by 8:30 am at the latest, preferably by 7:30. Not today. I just couldn't seem to get out the door. Once I did, I didn't fair much better. I went by my coffee stop. Definitely needed the coffee, so headed back. Passed several gas stations, but I figured I'd wait for the one that's usually the cheapest. Well, when I got there, they were out of everything except the highest grade and diesel. So, I turned back again.
I finally made it to Bradbury by 9, where I discovered I'd left my Garmin home. Well, at least I'm familiar enough with all the routes I'd take that I could figure a mileage for whatever I ran. Still, my wrist felt a little naked and I can't tell you how many times I looked at it.
I missed the Scuffle, ran the Breaker as a recovery run (of sorts), but really want to race the Bruiser. Not in that I am looking to win my age group or beat any one person, but...I was less than a minute from breaking two hours last year. I think I can do that, especially given how I felt at the Beast Run. So, I was going to do 8ish miles of the Bruiser with an uptempo pace. However, given my morning and lack of Garmin, I switched my game plan. I just ran. And took pictures. And had one of those runs where your mind runs, too. I definitely had a running dialogue with myself. It was good. I'll add some pictures tomorrow (well, today; it's after 3 am...sleep, I miss you).
Sounds like you had a much better run with the revised game plan!
ReplyDelete:) I'm with you. It was a great run. I loved the weird little plants that were growing out of the stump; made me think of coral.
