Rick, on vacation this week, and I started our run a bit late. I thought the fields would be muddier than they were. Even though the temperature made it in to the 40's, everything was still pretty frozen. We did the loop on this side of the road and the hill across the street. Rick and I chatted for 3.5 miles then he headed back up. I continued on with a total of six in mind.
The darkness came quickly. The run changed. It was a bit exciting. Over the hill across the street is a path into the woods. I started in, but, the creaking trees made me a little nervous; I'd seen all the branches hung up in the tree tops when there was light. That, combined with the fact I couldn't see the footing, made me abandon that trail and head back to our field. Too bad the clouds were blocking the full moon.
I finished up with 5.93. Good enough.
