Yesterday I ran an easy four with Four around the Back Cove. I was aiming for five, but started feeling some discomfort and decided to walk the rest. So. It wasn't as far as Monday, but the discomfort started later. Hopefully, I'm on the mend.
Now for a confession. I may have exaggerated the measurable effect of moving the Nordic Tracker out of the basement. I guess, first of all, I didn't give any useful data. All I said was that I experienced a 2 km/hr increase in speed. I should have qualified it by saying that represented a 20 % increase over my average speed in the basement. I also should have had more data before making such a claim and have mentioned that the tensioning mechanism on the machine is a bit...crude and perhaps not exactly reliably reproducible. To move it, I had to un-tension it and then reset it (about as near as I could to where it was). Also, over garage floor and the outside locations I use are not exactly level which influences the resistance. What I'm trying to say is I think, though I enjoy it much more, I don't think I have the data to say that enjoyment translates to an increase in performance. I wanted it to be so.
I find most of the mechanical exercise equipment to be very inacurate. on my treadmill while wearing the Nike, I can change my pace considerably just by adjusting my stride with the belt traveling at a constant speed.
