I saw only one other runner on my Portland run today. I was kinda psyched to say that I was the only one out there on this cold, rainy day and then this other woman came into view. I thought that I would easily overtake her - she seemed so slow. I should know by now that some of the fastest people look slow - effortless. She just kept getting farther and farther ahead. I disliked her more as the gap between us grew. I admit to not being very nice this morning. I decided she hadn't been running nearly as long as I had. It took me a while to realize I didn't like my attitude; I should appreciate the only other person to brave the weather. Usually there are so many people out on the Back Cove and Eastern Prom. I'm even on a first name basis with some of the dogs!
