Never Summer 2021 - The Lead Up

So.  My training is done.  I'm as in shape as I'm going to be.  I'm not as in shape as I was in 2019. not by a long shot, but I'm much better geared.  I also have an extra-special ace in the hole; Brian Emerson is going to pace me starting at mile 30, a benefit of being of being over 60, the only one.

By my nature, I do much better when someone tells me I can't do something.  I know all my friends are pulling for me and are telling me how great I'm going to do for encouragement.  It's weird, but it's the opposite of what I really need.  Make me have to prove myself, buck all the negative expectations.  Feeling like everyone expects it of me makes it so much harder.  Oh well, maybe I can turn that into some kind of motivator.  I'll work on it.

Brian will have an interesting task.  He needs to not tell me what to do, but still get me to do it.  I think he's one of the few up to this task.  He knows that HtFU is our motto.  We are going to get this done.  Why would we chance the leap?  Because we just might fly.
