Fields and Hills = Treadmill

Tuesday night, I made sure I got out after work.  The fields are very unwelcoming right now, but that's what there is.  The farmer's path up the hill across the street was soggy, but fine.  The beaver trail was also fairly runnable and I got to look for the little creatures at the end.  OK, I decided to have my own treadmill of sorts; it just ran back and forth on this barely mile stretch.  The footing was ok enough that I could look around.  The sky looked like it was painted by a beginner, maybe even a beginner practicing clouds.  My mind drifted to thinking maybe-we're-just-in-some-program thoughts.

Wednesday I brought my running clothes to work.  Though I'd ended up with an ok run yesterday, I didn't want to run on my treadmill again.  I decided I would do a Thorncrag run once a week, leaving straight from work.  It's going to be great, but this time much of the single track was ice, the slick, treacherous, sloped kind.  That amounted to too much walking.  So I stuck to two of the big trails.  I ran up the long, blue trail, down, then up the steeper, shorter red.  I repeated this 4 times.  It was good hill training, but I think I'll go right back to the single track once the ice is gone.

    1. Nothing??? Reminds me of a poem my mom told me: "Hello. I'm nobody. Who are you? Are you nobody, too? Don't tell; they'd banish us, you know."

  2. Ice sucks. So great that you have Thorncrag so close, what a great little place for hills and singletrack... (and whales and statues)

  3. This time of year is so odd. I want the trails to be in great shape so I can run, run, run on them, but the reality is just not quite that way yet :-) So, you do what you must, and if repeats it is, well, then, hopefully it won't be long before you can run that singletrack the way you want to! :-) Glad you've decided to get yourself out to Thorncrag once a week. What a great spot to run!

    1. It really is a great spot. I know you have great trails nearby, but the crag isn't all that far way.
